Are you a storyteller who thrives in the shadows? Do mystery, flight, eerie transformation, and hidden truths inspire your imagination? Then come write for FigBat, where dark tales and atmospheric journeys take wing.
At FigBat, we’re always looking for unique voices who can contribute to our growing world of shadowed skies, night creatures, and compelling fiction. If your writing dances between reality and the unknown—if you feel drawn to quiet suspense, haunting beauty, or the transformation found in twilight—this is the place for you.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome submissions that match the spirit of FigBat:
- Dark, atmospheric short stories
- Thoughtful essays on mystery, folklore, or eerie phenomena
- Poetry that evokes emotion, shadow, and flight
- Visual storytelling or hybrid forms that embrace the unknown
Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just beginning to explore your voice, we’re more interested in mood, depth, and imagination than credentials.

- Word count: 800–2,500 for prose, up to 40 lines for poetry

- Feel free to share a short note on why FigBat drew you in—we love hearing your story
We aim to respond within 2–3 weeks. If your piece is selected, we’ll feature it on the site with full credit, and possibly across our social channels. We don’t currently offer payment, but we strive to uplift and promote our contributors however we can.
